Road accidents abroad can often prove problematic for drivers and the general rule of thumb is to never admit liability, either wholly or in part, for any accident. Even saying you are sorry could be misrepresented later. Even if local police press a driver to give a statement following the accident, it is best policy to decline until you have taken advice from your insurance company and not to sign anything until you are given reassurances from your insurance company on how to proceed.
